Winter Blues

I am so sick of winter. I am so over it, it can go away now. But sadly I know it is not over yet as we will be getting another snow storm later on this week.  It has not been fun at all it has been either too cold or I have been dealing with broken toes which I might add have finally healed. But just as I am ready to get back into working out I have thrown my back out, I think that this is the worst I have ever hurt it and with the smallest movement ever. I just feel like everything is against me. The weather, my body.

It just sucks

.I feel like going to sleep and waking up when the snow is melted and my body is in perfect working order. Maybe the animals that hibernate are on to a good thing maybe we should all go to sleep in the winter and wake up in the spring, just think of how skinny you would be from not having to eat all those holiday goodies and dinners. Yes lets skip Halloween, Winter holidays, Valentines Day, and Easter because you spend the rest of the year trying to work off all the junk you have indulged in during those times.

But I am not going to let this get me down I will be back at this full force as soon as I am better in the mean time I will just keep watching what I eat, which I have slipped on a little but will be doing better at as soon as I get my menus planned for the next 2 weeks. I didn't make a meal plan for the last 2 weeks and I really felt the affects of not being prepared, and how truly important it is to plan everything.

Week 5

I despite having a horrible week was able to lose 1/2 a pound, and I will take it. I was so worried about gaining. I don't know what happened. I just couldn't get it together. I didn't do a proper shopping trip last week. I didn't stick to anything on my meal plans. I actually ate horrible. Now mind you I didn't over eat, I just ate things I should not have eaten. I am hoping that this week is a whole lot better. I think that I am sick of winter and it wasn't a very fun winter for me. I will be glad when it is over and I can get outside more. I hope that we have a great spring and summer this year and not being stuck with rain.

The Sugar Monster

I have been living clean with out sugar for over a month. I have used honey and agave nectar to sweeten things and very little of them. We have swapped cake and cookies for apples and oranges salty crunchy chips for celery with peanut butter, or crisp crunchy veggies My whole family has gotten used to not eating refined sugars. I have seen the possitive affects of our new lifestyle.......
Yesterday was Valentine's Day and The Sugar Monster came out of hiding.......
I made really decadent cookies for my daughter for her school party plus there was a few extra for home. My son came home bouncing off the walls from his party, my daughter came come crashing and my youngest was horribly lazy and moody. They would not cooperate with me, they were very emotional, crying at the littlest things, yelling and screaming at one another. I too had had a few cookies and did not eat properly yesterday. I felt so angry and I thought that I was going to explode at the littlest things.
I never want to feel like that again. my kids don't want to feel like that either. I told them that we are not going to eat that junk again. I never realized what a negative affect sugar has on one persons body. Thank goodness today is back to normal. I am throwing out the rest of the cookies that are in the house. we don't need those in our bodies!

Week 4

Happy Valentines Day  Everyone!

Today is my cheat day, although I feel really guilty about it. I have  been doing so good. I am down another 3 lbs this week I have also lost a total of 7.75 inches off my body. I swam laps in my mom's pool for over an hour on the weekend and I am going to finally do my fitness challenge this week. I was finally able start wearing other shoes other than my runners which I am very happy about! I wanted to walk to school today but the kids had temper tantrums and were dawdling really badly today. but tomorrow is another day and I am going to have to work off this Valentines day dinner and the chocolate milk chocolate chip and toffee bit cookies( yes all that is in one cookie) that I made and ate today . I had made them for my daughters class and she came home with extras i couldn't resist them I haven't had cookies in over a month and they were worth it. As I said that I am going to be working this off tomorrow I plan on doing an hour of cardio and  a 1/2 hour of strength training Turbo Jam here I come!

Week 3

Yay ME!! Down 2 pounds this week. I have Lost 7 pounds in the last 4 weeks. 3 of them were from the week before the challenge started when I was able to exercise.My foot is feeling a lot better this week I am going to start getting back into cardio this week and will focus on my abs as well. I was beginning to get stir crazy. It has been so nice outside too. I have missed tobogganing this year with the kids. I hope to walk to school sometime this week hopefully it will be nice enough for at least one day.

I Had my first cheat day last week on Caleb's birthday.and I didn't really even cheat except for I had more carbs that day and of course Birthday cake. Yesterday was the Super Bowl and while my family ate hotdogs and chips I ate a very healthy safe corn-free Chicken burger and BBQ chips. These chips are the most yummy low fat chip out there they are called POP Chips they are Popped, not baked or fried. and come in all sorts of flavors best of all most are corn free. For 29 chips there is 180 calories and 6gs of fat. You can only buy these chips at Shoppers Drug Mart, Costco or Superstore or online www.popchips.com they used to just come in the big bags but I saw single serving sizes bags Saturday for the first time!.

Week 2

I didn't lose anything this week but I have lost 4.5 inches off my body in the last two weeks. So I am pretty happy with that. I can feel the difference in my clothing, things are starting to fit better. My stomach is getting flatter slowly. and my face  is thinning out There were a lot of people on the challenge that were bummed this week about losing little or no lbs until I told them to go measure themselves a lot were surprised to find that they had lost inches. Saturday was a hard day for me I didn't get my meals in properly and had horrible cravings for stuff. I am glad that I didn't act on them. I am starting to realize that I have to keep myself on a schedual on the weekend. If I don't want to get off course and cause self sabotage. I am getting really bored I feel like climbing the walls I just want to get a good cardio workout in so bad. I did manage to do my grocery shopping on my own though today so that was good I was able to lift bags and totes and bring them in and down the long hallway to my apartment that felt good. I re-injured my toes on Friday afternoon after I accidentally kicked a floor fan, so now my recovery has been set back a little.

As promised results of week one!

I despite not being able to really work out because of my toes was able to lose 2 lbs this week and 1.5 inches off my waist.. This week was surprisingly easy. I  kept up with my water I planned 2 weeks of meals and snacks that I have kept on track with ,except for a few minor alterations. I even battled through temptations. Katie went to a dance on Friday and had brought everyone home a treat, she brought me a chocolate bar, which I only ate 1/2 of and put the rest in the freezer where it has stayed.. I haven't been counting my calories, and I am probably really under my daily amount every day but do not feel deprived of anything, I eat  three meals a day and two to three snacks, most of my meals are low carb or carb free, but I do make sure that I eat a lot of salad with a bit of dressing, lots of raw veggies and  I eat fruit and lots of protein. I eat one protein with every meal. I have been drinking 2-3 litres of water everyday and if I am sick of water then I make myself a cup of fruit tea I bought a sampler pack of celestial seasonings, they have 5 different fruit teas to chose from and they are all wonderful. I have also stopped using white sugar, I am only using honey to sweeten anything. I am trying new recipes and making alterations to things that I normally make.

 Even Maxine who has been eating the way I have been has lost a little bit too I have not weighed her but I see it in her face and her belly is flatter.I am controlling her portions better, and she has been leaving food at the end of a meal.

A new year has begun. I have started off the year ok but not great. I started eating betting this week as well as working out. I got in two really high intensity workouts followed by strength training workout. I was doing really good until I forgot to put my dumb bells away and heard the phone ringing and ran to answer it.........I didn't see the dumb bells and I smashed my right foot into my 5 lb dumb bell.....I have two broken toes. Did I cry? nope Did I swear? Nope. Really wanted too, but instead I answered the phone. Held my composure and got off the phone and screamed.I have had broken bones many times but this one really hurt doing. To make matters worse I did it about 20 min before I had to leave the house and pick up my kids for lunch, and my husband was working out of town that day. I had no choice but to shove my foot into my shoe and walk out the door. When my husband got home I got babied big time. Dinner in bed, tea, even the kids are helping me out. It has been great having everyone pitch in just wish that they would all do it when I am not hurt!

Enough about my injuries.......

As you have noticed the title of this blog entry is X-Weighted. I am doing a 26 week fitness and diet challenged based on the Canadian show hosted by Paul Plakas. There are weekly prizes as well as Grand prizes. To enter you have to enter by today at 11:59pm and enter in your weight height measurements and have a fitness goal . You can also do the fitness test but I chose not to do it as i am injured and it would required me to use both of my feet.. Every week that you enter in your weight you are entered into the weekly prize.

So that being Said my achievable goal is to lose 53 lbs, and run 10 kms I have 26 weeks to achieve this! This is totally do-able! each week I will log in my process here as well.For all you Canadians who want to lose weight and need some incentive I suggest you do this challenge too!  I would love to win the First Grand Prize .A trip for 2 to Halifax NS.!
